Bethany Children’s Home Becomes New Adopt-A-Trail Participant

The Bethany Children’s Home in Womelsdorf has signed on to the Schuylkill River Heritage Area’s Adopt-A-Trail Program, agreeing to conduct routine trail maintenance for a three-year period along the Thun Section of the Schuylkill River Trail between the Angstat Road Trailhead and Poplar Road in Cumru Township. The Adopt-A-Trail program was developed by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area in 2010 to engage civic groups, schools and other community organizations in maintenance of the Schuylkill River Trail in Berks and Schuylkill Counties, which is managed by the Heritage Area. Adopt-a-Trail groups agree to conduct at least two cleanups a year along a specified piece of the trail. The Heritage Area supplies the groups with trash bags, tools and other equipment, and recognizes them with two signs placed at trailheads or along the trail.
