New Pottstown-Reading Trail_8-13

Pottstown to Reading

From Pottstown to the Berks County line the trail is maintained by Montgomery County, and that section is paved. After crossing into Berks County, the Schuylkill River Heritage Area owns and maintains the trail and the surface is crushed stone. A four-mile between Birdsboro and Gibraltar is on-road, using Schuylkill Road north from Birdsboro to Robeson Crossing, trail crosses Rt. 724 and uses Old River Road from Robeson Crossing to Gibraltar.
Explore the trail using our free Bike Pottstown/Bike Schuylkill bike share.
Trail Alert: Buttonwood Street Bridge Closure in Reading: The Buttonwood Street Bridge is under construction through April 2017. Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be able to travel under the bridge on the Schuylkill River Trail during the work. Trail users should instead take the ramp from River Road up to Buttonwood Street and then use the access road on the opposite side of the bridge to get back to the trail. This section of trail is located west of Reading Riverfront Park.
